awkwardly

Monday

Awkwardly back on Tripod, their mistake.

The bad news is that I wasted several hours over the weekend migrating everything I could find from Awkwardly (mainly stuff cached on Google or the Wayback Machine) to other hosts. Awkwardly had been removed from Tripod for allegedly violating their terms of service. The good news is that it's back on Tripod, so all my links from other websites and blogs and search engines aren't lost. Tripod/Lycos customer support replied on Monday that my website had been "mistakenly locked by one of our automatic processes." Like the Creator of the Hitchhiker's Guide universe, they apologized for any inconvenience this may have caused.

So I take back anything bad I said about Tripod in the meantime, and anything I might have admitted when speculating about why they might ban me. Really, the Pundit of Porn article wasn't that objectionable, was it?

If you read this through RSS or some kind of feed, don't change a thing. If you want to visit the whole mess directly, then visit http://evilbobdayjob.tripod.com as you always have. At least until further notice. I definitely need to back up my stuff in case Tripod goes belly up someday or has some malfunction that lasts longer than a weekend.

Rob, I just have to tell you....I found this blog of yours once again through watching one of your videos. I watched Mel's video this morning and then clicked on one of the videos attached to it. It was you response to Cat In the Hat. Very cute, btw. At the end of that video was a web address for evilbobdayjob, so I went to it. Once there, I skimmed your latest blog entries and found them all very interesting. Then I noticed something on your home page about Kucinich sounds like spinach. I LOVE DENNIS. My husband and I are huge Dennis supporters. Both in '04 and '08. He really is our only hope. Unfortunately, everything is so mixed up and turned upside doen, that the masses are convinced he is a nutjob, when he is really the only one out there who is trying to wake people up. They prefer to stay asleep.

Anyway, I just loved your essay on h2g2 about "behind the machine" telling your experience of campaigning for Kucinich. I laughed out loud when you got to the part about the guy who sold you a pair of gloves who then came back to see if you wanted to buy the other pair and then wanted to borrow another dollar until Monday. In fact, I read that paragraph to my husband because it just struck me as so funny. He knew how to spot the soft heart in the crowd.

So anyway, I really don't want you to think I'm stalking you by finding your blog again, but I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your writing. You are a very gifted writer. I noticed somewhere that you have a book(s) you sell. I'd be very interested in buying on.

And I just love your wife. You are two of the most interesting people on YT. And the cutest couple. I love to see a couple who really LIKE each other, and your respect for each other really shows on her videos. I just love Mel.

Long story short....I'm a huge fan of you both. Not a stalker.

I hope you have a great day!

Thanks for your comment, Parfectionist. I'm not worried about you stalking me. That's why I put my website url on the end of videos, so people will find it.

I didn't actively campaign for Kucinich for 2008, but I voted for him in the primary, just hoping that a good showing by him might slightly influence the likely candidates. I think he got 4% in Michigan, which was pretty high, but the whole Michigan primary was screwed because of the national party disenfranchising Mich voters. I can't believe they'd rather reject all votes from a state than allow a state to break their rules about what date we hold a primary. Ugh.

If you're interested in my book, just go to http://www.lulu.com/content/182383
Or you can read a free digital copy of the whole thing as a pdf file, you can download it from http://www.archive.org/details/dungeons_and_dayjobs_anthology
(The idea is that hopefully some people will like the digital copy enough that they'll break down and buy the print copy, but I hope you enjoy it either way.)

    Later,
    Rob

Hello again. I just tried ordering your book through LuLu. I want to purchase it using paypal, (it looks like that option is available) but the site is first asking me for my credit card information. I like to use paypal specifically to avoid having to enter my cc info all over the internet. I sent them an inquiry about it, and will wait to hear from them. Otherwise, if you have a way of letting me know how to pay you directly through paypal, I'll be glad to do it that way,, too.

    Thanks,
    Parfectionist

P.S. I think you and Melinda would really like a YT channel called The Pinky Show. I think they will blow you away. They also have a website www.pinkyshow.org I think you'll really like how these girls get their message across. They are waking people up with a velvet hammer.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Thanks for ordering the book. I've seen a few episodes of The Pinky Show and loved it. It has the kind of elements that Melinda should like (animated cats talking politics and controversy) but I don't think she watched many or any of the episodes I pointed out to her. I can't always judge what will appeal to her.
